3. Introduction of the Heritage Race system

3.1 General characteristics

The Heritage Run system from the very beginning has been organized using the model and operating regulations of the world's leading prestigious marathons. Each race hosted by DHA Vietnam applies international standards. Each track not only meets the technical standards of the World Athletics and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, but also has the characteristics of the Vietnamese culture and that of the locality where the race is organized, contributing to improving physical fitness, community health, promoting the intangible cultural values, national and world heritage of Vietnam.

The Heritage Run system has turned three locations, the capital of Hanoi with a thousand years of civilization and the city for peace, Ha Long Bay, a World Heritage site, and Can Tho city, the Mekong Delta capital, into the desired destination of many runners abroad and in Vietnam. It also helps convey the message of quality and prestige of the national brand "Vietnam - a safe destination", being attractive to friends around the world.

The Heritage Run system contributes to the development of domestic tourism in parallel with international tourism. The Organizing Committee of the Heritage Race system pays great attention to raising the awareness of preserving the environment among runners and spectators, thus creating a very good impression and image in the eyes of visitors.

Runners' achievements at the Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race and the Halong Bay International Heritage Marathon are recognized as eligible to participate in the prestigious Boston Marathon (Boston qualify), which is a professional strong point that attracts a large number of runners home and abroad in coming years.

The Heritage Race system has been organized with high professionalism, leaving good memories in the hearts of runners, and received special attention from the domestic and foreign media.

3.2 Hanoi Marathon - Heritage Race

The Hanoi Marathon - Heritage Race has a unique running track, passing through most of the iconic cultural heritages of the capital such as the Lake of the Returned Sword, the West Lake, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Long Bien bridge as well as old streets such as Ba Trieu, Trang Thi, Hang Bong, Hang Ngang... This track has risen beyond the framework of a sporting event to bring the beauty of a cultural event, becoming an opportunity to promote to the world the beautiful image of Vietnam, a Hanoi city for peace, hospitable Hanoians and the city's cultural quintessence.

The VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020 was a cultural and sport event to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of ASEAN establishment and to respond to the year Vietnam held the role of the rotating ASEAN Chair. The race was also one of the official events to celebrate the 1010th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi.

The VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 has become one of the official sports activities to welcome the 31st SEA Games regional sports festival held in Vietnam in May 2022, serving as the basis for selecting more than 200 non-professional runners to accompany the event.

3.3 Halong Bay Heritage Marathon

The Halong Bay International Heritage Marathon is one of the oldest marathons in Vietnam, held in Ha Long city in the northern province of Quang Ninh. The marathon owns many unique beauties. The track runs along the shores of Ha Long Bay, the planet's most romantic and beautiful bay, crossing the large cable-stayed bridge connecting Ha Long and Bai Chay, with many sections overlooking fanciful natural scenery, appealing to all runners, even the most fastidious ones. The track is not only certified by the IAAF and AIMS as meeting international standards, but also voted by the famous magazine "Runner's World UK" as one of the 50 greatest races on earth.

3.4 Can Tho Marathon - Heritage Race

The marathon made its debut in December 2019 in Can Tho, the capital of the fertile Mekong Delta, 170 km southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. Part of the Heritage Run system, the Can Tho marathon has an asphalt track that would always bring new emotions at each runner's step. It is a refreshing feeling when they stride in the cool morning breeze among the green rice fields stretching in the vast delta. It would be a surprise when in front of them stand famous landmarks of the historical western capital, as Can Tho is often referred to, such as Ninh Kieu wharf, Chau Van Liem school, Luu Huu Phuoc park and the historic Lo Vong Cung (Arc-shaped Road). That would be an attractive beauty of its own as the unique scenes include Cai Rang floating market and the serenity of "Truc Lam Phuong Nam" Zen Monastery.

4. Introduction of the Sunset Champion21 system

Carrying the vision of building an international marathon, contributing to the sports movement to improve the physical fitness of Vietnamese people and actively promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world, over the years, DHA Vietnam has pursued a professional organization model in line with international standards, constantly trying to bring the names of the Heritage Race manathons to the world’s marathon map. These marathons have helped attract travellers to come for competition while discovering the beauty of the country and people of Vietnam, thus contributing to the country’s economic development.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the world a lesson about the power of nature and the value of our health. As a company specializing in organizing sports events of international scale, DHA Vietnam clearly realizes the importance of sport training to improve health, as well as young people's demand for experiential travel, which has been rising strongly after the pandemic. The company has once again decided to pioneer in creating a new playground called ‘Sunset Champion21’, a series of running races held at sunset on special tracks and destinations across the country.

If the Heritage Race system is professionally organized according to international standards, aiming to promote and attract a large number of foreign tourists to run and explore, Sunset Champion21 expects to develop a generation of Vietnamese youth being strong, proactive, fierce and creative.

The sunset itself is always an endless source of inspiration about the wonders of life full of color. For young people, the sunset is especially charming. Sunset Champion21 lies within the perfect time frame for physical training, creating feelings about the brilliant moments at sunset, and will serve as a strong inspiration to attract young people to sports and fitness, offering an opportunity to return to nature, recognize the values so as to appreciate the country and people of Vietnam and especially for them to shine in a unique way.

The 21-km half marathon is a distance enough to challenge training, giving enough time to experience the beauty of running tracks at sunset so the heart can speak and creativity flourishes.

In particular, for the first time, Sunset Champion21 will welcome runners at the Finish line with a festival of colors and explosions of music, bringing unforgettable experiences to everyone who attends.

Sunset Champion21 will be available in many provinces and cities across the country from 2023.

Here are the logos of Champion21 Halong and Champion21 Sontra races.

5. Sports and Tourist Program

Sport tourism includes tours that takes the competition in sports activities as the main theme, combined with sightseeing at scenic spots or resorts. Sports tourism is popular and developed in the world, but it is still new to Vietnam.

In the 2018–2019 period, DHA Vietnam conducted a pilot program to organize sports tours for Vietnamese marathoners and running lovers to visit the Berlin marathon, a journey that also combines with tours in Europe. The number of registered participants was high, far exceeding organizers' expectations, which suggests that the demand for participating in these tours is quite high. DHA Vietnam at that time could only organize for a number of people participating in European sports tourism within the framework of its existing plan. Visitors returned with enthusiasm and passion of the Berlin marathon, fueling the Heritage Race system.

Currently, DHA Vietnam is planning and has been seeking cooperation opportunities with partners to offer sports tours to several European countries, to the United States or Japan... in order to bring Vietnamese marathoners to join major races while combining with tourism, and bring foreign marathon runners to Heritage Race system along with tours in Vietnam.

In the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic on a global scale, the successful organization of large-scale events, and the appreciation toward them by Vietnamese state agencies, such as the VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020, the Halong Bay Heritage Marathon 2020 and the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021-2022 has affirmed the strong vitality of these races. It also lays the premise for the glorious future development of the Heritage Race, the Sunset Champion21 systems and sports tourism.
